L B Hildesheim

Lucile Brais Hildesheim grew up in Montreal where she began playing the harp at the age of 8, graduating from McGill University with a Bachelor's degree in Performance. She was a Finalist in the 1981 CBC National Competition. Throughout the 1980's, Lucile was heard regularly on CBC and Radio-Canada. After a break in the 1990's to pursue other interests, Lucile now focuses her career as a harp soloist on both classical and Celtic harp, often featuring the unique qualities of both instruments in the same concert. In 2002, she premiered the Concerto for Celtic Harp by Canadian composer Mark Mitchell; a chamber version with members of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra was well received in 2005.

Her solo, concerto and chamber music concerts have taken her across Canada and in the United States; to the summer festivals of Lanaudières and Domaine Forget; and with the Ottawa Chamber Players. She has recorded with several choirs and produced two solo harp albums. Lucile teaches harp at the University of Ottawa, and her private studio is busy with young and mature students.

"Harpist Lucile Brais Hildesheim's exquisite playing was another of the afternoon's major pleasures." Richard Todd, the Ottawa Citizen.
